I read this in high school during the dystopian craze. I was a fan of The Hunger Games so I thought I'd enjoy this series too. But honestly, and to this day, do not understand the hype about this book. The faction could be interesting, but I think it's so weird and not very well thought through to base them on a single personality trait. Similarly the whole divergent thing just didn't hit with me. So you're a well-rounded person with more than one personality trait? Better reject you from society! Like, what?? I didn't feel a connection to any of the characters. I could barely tell the side characters apart. The Divergent series just wasn't that great in my opinion.

My favorite trilogy, divergent was one of the books that really got me immersed from beginning to end. A land where people are divided into five factions, each based on a certain characteristic. The Abnegation, the selfless, Erudite, the scholarly, Candor, the honest ones always speaking the truth, the Amity consists of the kind, and last but not at all least, the Dauntless which consists of the brave. Through the book, we see the course of a young girl, Tris, and her journey with others who don't necessarily fit in this world like others want them to. An adventure story, with a beautiful romance it is a fun book.

This book was okay. I read it, I finished it, I was curious about what happened next.

I ended up googling a plot summary for books two and three, because while it's okay, it's just not good enough to read the sequels of.

This series was my favorite when I was like 15, I absolutely devoured these, and still hold warm feelings towards them. I know not everyone agrees with me, but I think this is an amazing book series, and they’ll always have a special place in my heart. <3
