He laughed. Softly, darkly. The kind of laugh that has no good intentions. The kind of laugh the walls don’t forget.

I’m so glad I found this book. This is exactly what I wanted and needed to read right about now. It was fun, hot, dark and had just enough crime to give you a taste of their world but not too much to scare you off or be categorized as a sad book.

“Don’t tempt me,” he said with a harshness that touched my skin. It wasn’t lost on me that he spoke of the kissing variety of temptation.

Nicolas is a mafia boss who is attracted to Elena from the moment he meets her. The only problem is: he’s engaged to her sister. And so, these two people try to fight this intense attraction, failing miserably every time they’re in a room together.

Instead of the prickling feeling of panic, his close proximity and the idea of his hands on me were driving me insane.

I loved their story because everything that happened was unexpected. The only thing I saw coming was them ending up together. But I didn’t know how or when and everything Nicolas and Elena did kept me on my toes. It truly was the perfect combination of manipulation, killing, plot twists and a cute romance story between two people that shouldn’t be together.

I wanted to be the best thing he’d ever had. To make him burn as much as he made me. I wanted him to want only me with a raw ache.

The only thing I didn’t like was the sexism, double standards and misogyny. Guys could have sex how many times they wanted but women had to be virgins until marriage. Hitting women????!!! Not letting women study because it was “dangerous”. I get Italians are traditional but we’re in 2021, catch up with the times.

Overall, I’m gonna give this book 4 stars, I loved the sex, I empathized with Elena and understood why she did what she did and put simply, Nicolas is just so damn hot. Can’t wait to read the next installment in the series.
