I can see why this is a classic! I had a hard time reading the first 20 pages because I didn't understand where it was going or the main character at all. I'm glad I stuck with it though.
I gave it 3 stars because reading it once was enough for me.

I don't know what to say in a short review.
Broke my heart. Surprised me. Fantastic ending chapters.
My notes in the margins essentially read "oh NO" and "I'm sorry" and "oh Holden..." (affectionately) more often than not.
A lot of thoughts, but I don't feel like typing them out for here now.
Loved the story.
Loved Holden, especially.
