Not gonna lie, this one made me cry because Kristy's family had to put Louie down and that hit me hard.

I am rereading these books from my childhood and I honestly forgot what a nice story they have! They are a quick little read and they are perfect for any child who is just getting into chapter books or adults who want a little of their childhood back.
This book made me so sad as a kid, and it really had the same impact on me just now. I admit it. A BSC book made me cry.
Let's do a quick plot review:
Kristy has moved into Watson's fancy neighborhood, and thinks that all the neighbors are snobs. They sort of are, at least at first glance, and they even make fun of poor Louie the family collie. The baby-sitting plot centers around the kids in her new 'hood, and how snobbish the Delaney kids are. They're tiny terrors, who are eventually tamed by that savvy Stacey.
The more personal plot involves Louie's quick deterioration due to old age, and eventually he has to put down. Things like this wreck me, no matter what sort of book they appear in, and I cried. I lost three dogs in two years, and yeah. Pretty much the opposite of a good time.
THANKS FOR WRECKING ME!
In the end Kristy and Shannon find common ground, and Shannon's family even gives the Thomas-Brewers a new puppy. I can also commiserate with this, as my own pup just turned a year old a few months ago.
Ah, puppy love to heal a broken heart.

A tear jerker but sweet story! Hope to read more of these in the future as this is the last of the bundle for my book club.

Sad yet encouraging!
A very moving and understandable story of misunderstandings and lost communication. Louie is so adorable and it really shows how endings can be beginnings. Chickenpox sucks and it really shows the benefits of reverse psychology.

I really enjoyed this one. I think it was a great lesson that Kristy ended up befriending the snobby girls once they got to know each other and who they truly were. On both sides! Kristy certainly wasn't innocent!
I loved this book! I remember reading it over and over as a child but didn't expect to still love it so much as an adult. There are two main stories - Kristy making friends in her new neighbourhood and learning not to judge people without talking to them first, and Kristy's dog, Louie, getting old and having to be put down. Both stories, but particularly the one about Louie, were very touching and well written. There is also a subplot in the background where Jeff wants to move back to California, which I suppose is building up to this event in a later book. This is also the book where Shannon joins the BSC as an associate member and there are hints that Mallory may join in the future as she helps Claudia on a sitting job. Ann M. Martin manages to address all of these issues appropriately and still make this an enjoyable and amusing book - definitely one of the best in the series! 10/10
didn’t expect a BSC book to make me cry but here we are I guess
