Excellent read
I was immediately drawn in and also glad to hear the voice of one of my favorite narrators telling this story by an author I already liked.
Aly is still processing the loss of her brother, the one who’d always protected her during her difficult childhood, when things get rocky at her dream job and she decides to finally start dealing with the house her brother had left behind. It turned out that the house was left to not only Aly but also her brother’s best friend, Wyatt.
First there’s the question of whether she’ll really be able to go back to her job after being asked not to come for a month, then the issue of what to do with the house, but then also these feelings for Wyatt.
I don’t usually love romance novels. This was so much more than that, a story of shared grief and goodbyes and new beginnings, and it’s now my favorite book by this author.
Excellent narration.

3.5 stars, rounded up. — Let me just start out by saying that the whole "I just inherited this house, but wait YOU inherited this house too??? wtf??? who even are you???" trope is decidedly one of my new favorites. I loved it in [b:Twice Shy|54660653|Twice Shy|Sarah Hogle|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1595608490l/54660653._SX50_.jpg|85281678], and I loved it just as much in Good For You. In fact, if [b:Twice Shy|54660653|Twice Shy|Sarah Hogle|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1595608490l/54660653._SX50_.jpg|85281678] and [b:Beach Read|52867387|Beach Read|Emily Henry|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1589881197l/52867387._SX50_.jpg|67832247] (my love) had a baby, it would be this book.
As for Wyatt and Aly, I thought they were such a fun match and really enjoyed their dynamic. Aly's complicated journey with her mother was another big hit for me. I wish so much we could have seen more of that played out, but I guess at the end of the day this is a romance. I loved Harry. I loved Luke. I cried big tears twice, which was no surprise for me considering the subject matter. Overall, a quality romp and an excellent surprise coming from an Amazon First Reads pick!

cute story
As a southwest Michigander, I enjoyed the familiar setting. A few cheesy moments that felt like a stretch, but the main characters were likable. Both were working through seasons of grief and feeling lost, and I appreciated their growth throughout the story.

About the book: “A warm and witty love story about making the most of life’s not-so-little curveballs by the #1 Amazon Charts bestselling author of Life and Other Near-Death Experiences.
Aly Jackson has waited her whole life to become editor in chief of All Good magazine. But six months into the job, she overhears her coworkers belittling her. Aly’s clapback? A very public, career-jeopardizing meltdown. To undo the mess, she agrees to a monthlong unpaid leave.
Wyatt is unkempt, unmotivated, and totally uninterested in Aly’s desire to sell. Yet as battle lines are drawn, Aly wonders whether she and this wild card have more than Luke in common. But is she willing to swap her lifelong dreams for a shot at healing her broken heart?”
Gosh, I love this cover, and wowee, I love this book. I’ve not read many books addressing sibling loss, especially a sister losing her brother, so this one hit close in that way. While Wyatt and Aly have a romance that was fun to watch unfold in a forced roommate setup, the heart of the story is about saying goodbye to a cherished loved one and friend, while the overall tone of the book is warmth and good feelings. I loved Aly and Wyatt. It was wonderful to have two completely lovable main characters!
I received a gifted copy.

I really enjoyed this book. I liked the characters, the story line, and the character development. It was a romance but it wasn’t cheesy.
I have only read one other Camille Pagán book, but when I saw this was an Amazon First Reads pick for February, I didn’t hesitate to grab it.
Aly Jackson is treading through her life. While she’s been in her dream job as editor in chief of a magazine for 6 months, her brother died nearly a year ago, and she isn’t coping well. When she overhears 2 coworkers talking poorly about how she’s doing her job, she goes on a very public rant that get posted on the internet. After being asked to step away from the magazine she heads to the lake house her brother left her, and she’s in for a huge shock when she realizes it was left for her to share with her brother’s best friend, Wyatt. While at first she thinks this is a terrible turn of events, it’s just what she needs to work through her grief and find herself again.
This has the perfect mix of drama, comedy, and romance and in true style of Ms. Pagán, wonderful character development. The self discovery both Aly and Wyatt go through helps to make this book something special.
Aly is a very complex character and the fact that she is so real is a testament to the talent Ms. Pagán has as an author. This book is filled with layers of depth and if all of her books are like this, I can’t wait to read them all.

This was such a cute story that also touches on grief, mental health, personal growth and moving on.
Got this from an Amazon first reads pick. This was a cute story. I even got emotional at some of the parts about grief.
