Couldn't connect fully to all the sport context (not a surprise here) but it was a cute romance and maybe if you are more receptive to sport than me you'll like it even more haha

Heavy handed on the learning disability but otherwise delightful and sweet. I loved the secret romance “why” on both sides, the way their relationship grew, and Taylor’s total bad ass drive to succeed.

I am calling this. I am simply not enjoying it and with a book like this enjoyment is the only reason to read it. I am feeling no chemistry at all between Jamar and Taylor. It is so great to see the representation of supportive women friends, particularly of successful black women, but its just a little too cute and harps a little too much on an anti-higher education theme. I agree one should not need a degree to be a personal trainer, though it can certainly help, but the idea that it is offensive to the lead that one needs a degree to be a nutritionist is problematic. It is not just about knowing what to eat, its about understanding the chemistry and the medicine. If you like cute, and you are more interested in "you go girl" than in the romance you might like this.

So good! This was a cute little sports romance. The banter between the MMC and the FMC was sooooo goood! I loved everything about how they fell in love and how they supported each other 🥰 I just love it! Highly recommend!

This book kind of fell off for me about halfway through. The first half I was so invested… I was really enjoying the banter, where the story was heading, the characters. The fake dating premise lasted all of 5 minutes, and the second half went exactly where I thought it was going to. I just felt bored by the time things wrapped up. It felt pretty anti-climactic, honestly.

This is nitpicky, but there were a few moments of dialogue that kind of rubbed me the wrong way and took me out of the book. For example, one of her friends said “I love capitalism” at one point which felt like kind of an out of place assertion (and political opinions aside, I just can’t imagine someone saying that in the middle of a conversation). Some of the nutrition advice Taylor was giving also felt toxic – I could’ve gotten on board if it was just enforcing a strict diet for Jamar (he is a pro athlete, after all), but at one point, she’s shopping with a client who is a mom trying to get back in shape and is telling her she can’t have potatoes?

Anyway - I didn’t love it but didn’t hate it! 3/5 ⭐️

Does it count if you listen to an audiobook?
I’m honestly not into romance unless it’s Bridgenton but, I enjoyed this book. It was a light listen with an exciting plot. I love that it was written from multiple perspectives.
