What she finds is a complicated relationship from and a series of truths that make her reevaluate her life. While there is a decent romance in this book, it is more a coming of age tale. The secondary characters making up Sammy’s found family were my favorite, and the ending made me quite emotional.

I cried like 3 times at work while reading this. Such a heartbreaking story about falling fast and hard, but also about abandonment issues, mommy issues, and family blood and chosen.

This felt so much more well-rounded than most romances and I loved it. The book is just as much about Sammy repairing her relationships with her chosen family as it is about the romance. I love that the romance only falls into place after both parties genuinely work on themselves. For such a short book it does amazing at capturing a plethora of messy relationships, with a happy and satisfying ending!

Anyways! This book was written for me - a bisexual woman who loves romance novels and rock music and books that combine these two things.
I hope Tehlor writes more romance novels, they’re good at it. I understood Sammy’s motivations very well. Even the third act break up made sense and felt necessary for Sammy and Max to build on their relationship.
