as much as i love ian and his relationship with jamie, this novella was rather lacklustre. definitely not a ‘must read’ for the series, but it’s always nice to add to the lore

Good book. Very. quick read.
Interesting history of Jews in France in the time period.

Nice

Nice short story before Outlander really starts. It ps great to just get a feel for Gabaldon’s writing and whether you wanna start the series or not.

An entertaining novella that only takes a couple hours to read. It was fun to see Jamie and Ian as young men (19 and 20 years old, respectively). The title is a little misleading, as you may expect more to happen than actually does, but still a worthwhile read for any Outlander fan.

When I read that this was a wee tale about Young Jamie and Young Ian, I was hoping for a brother-from-a-different-mother, best-friends-till-we-die type book, full of emotion and brotherly love and drama. If you are also looking for this then 'Virgins' is not the book for you.

Yes, there were elements of the brotherly love, but it wasn't overly emotional. I didn't feel the deep connection between Jamie and Ian. In fact at times there was an almost competitive edge to their relationship.

If the title doesn't give it away, the whole book is really concerned with Jamie and Ian meeting a pretty lassie and both fancying the pants off of her. There is a plot and though it was a bit obvious, it was fine for a novella, but the crux was the 'wee dolly' of a girl.

There were classic 'Outlander' elements, the humour and the intelligence and wit, but overall I didn't quite enjoy it as much as I would have hoped.
