This book is fast. The lead up to an event, the event, the quick after event, then bam end. The story did have me laughing and you get a good sense of Jamie's and Ian's friendship as young men.

I read Virgins in less than a day, right after finishing Outlander, and I think it worked well as a sort of “circle back” before continuing with the second book in the main series. It’s short and quite easy to get through, and it gives you a glimpse of Jamie and Ian’s friendship in their younger years, Jamie is 19 here, as they travel through France.
There are some thoughtful moments between them, conversations that feel honest and show the depth of their friendship. I liked how their dynamic came through, especially in how open they are with each other. Still, I was expecting something more. The story introduces new characters that didn’t leave much of a mark, while glancing over parts I was genuinely curious about, especially Annalise and Jamie’s time in Paris. Her name is only mentioned in passing, which felt like a missed opportunity.
One detail I did find surprising was that Jamie could read and speak Hebrew (Ian could read it too). We already know he’s well-educated, but it was still unexpected, and just another reminder of how impressive his character is in quiet ways.
Overall, it was a quick and easy read with a few interesting insights, but I didn’t find it essential. I’m glad I read it, but I don’t think it added much depth to what I already knew.

An early story of Jamie and Ian
I enjoyed this story about Jamie & Ian and some of their early experiences. Their humor in dealing with all life hands them draws me in.
