Originally published as part of the Dangerous Women anthology several years back, this story probably isn’t going to work for everyone. And while it does indeed have a dangerous woman in it, the main character is actually Jamie Fraser, from Gabaldon’s Outlander series. You can totally tell she just wanted to write about Jamie before he met Claire, and she shoved that other lady in there to fulfill a requirement. What this story is actually concerned with is something different, as implied by the title. Thought the way Gabaldon treated the ‘virgins’ theme throughout was very nice, and worked well for me, especially when you get the double meaning near the end.

Diana Gabaldon's talent with her characters is a commendation to her skill as a writer. This story is set before Cross Stitch (Or Outlander as it is more commonly known as these days), and follows a young Jamie and Ian in France. It was fascinating to see Jamie so young and, dare I say it, naive. The development of her characters throughout her novels are simply amazing and a large reason why I love these books as much as I do. I will never tired of reading these stories.
