Not even time travel and nano particles could save this story.

A decent read. It wasn't too engaging throughout large parts of the story from time to time, but the ending was really good.

David Asha loses his wife to cancer. He then jumps from a cliff leaving their son, Elliot without parents.
Elliot is left with their close friend, Ben Elmys.
Harriet Kealty was a police officer, dismissed from the force after a lapse in judgement. She picks up a book for sale, one day, in a library and finds a message written inside asking for help because "he is going to kill me". She asks who borrowed the book last and is told it was Elizabeth Asha, Elliot's mother.
She decides to investigate and all her enquiries lead her to Ben Elmys, the former love of her life.
Could she have been so wrong about him and is Ben actually a killer?

This book was absolutely cuckoo bananapants. Unclear as to whether or not that’s a compliment.

Woah the twist hit me so hard!! Very surreal and spooky tone throughout, I really enjoyed.

The only thing that was annoying was the way the (male) author wrote the main female police detective. Self conscious about her looks to the extreme, all she thought about was the the man she went on a date with. Also loooong descriptions about how she looked, like she’s in her 30s, but don’t worry she’s still hot!! It almost made put down the book but I’m glad I didn’t in the end.

This is a mash up of genres with a central puzzle designed to keep you guessing. There’s crime, there’s love, there’s other stuff I can’t tell you about without spoiling the story. There are multiple voices and ways of telling. It reminded me a little of David Mitchell, but more lowbrow. I wanted to love it but, honestly, didn’t. This could be me. It fell between my sweet spots. Not quite genre enough, not quite literary enough.

This was fantastic! I went into it completely blind which made it so much better!

When I saw that the publisher specifically asked reviewers to not spoil anything… I knew I had to read this book!

Without giving anything away, its the perfect book for mystery/crime lovers and those that enjoy books that bend genres. The twists were wild and the ending was a little over my head but it was so fun trying to guess what was going on! I got a little bored in the middle but the ending left me completely speechless. I'm so excited for this book to come out so that I can talk to more people about it!

A fantastic book that defies categorization. Is it a thriller only, or is it sci-fi? Is it a mystery, or fiction about time, grief and love that never dies?
