this was super cute. i wish it was a bit more timeless but like i also understand the need to talk about how the pandemic affected the community. def needed an epilogue bc like i really wanted to hear more about the events she’d be hosting and how they save the ranch AND i want to know tyler and lochlin’s story

3.5 i guess? It was fine.
This is not a grumpy x sunshine romance at all so get rid of that expectation if you want to read this!
Grumpy x whiny?
Grumpy x codependency issues?
Abandonment complex x codependency issues lol??
Whatever you call this, the characters had no chemistry with each other for the beginning, I didn't really feel like their banter was sexually-charged. Once they finally break the tension between them I liked it a little more.
I liked the non-romance plot points a lot - the final event coming together was great.
I do not think these two are good for each other, and I did not agree with most of their decisions, and most of the main characters aren't very good people at all!
However, the story was good and once I let this book be what it is, I was able to get through it and maybe even enjoy it at some parts.

Nothing’s really standing out to me, I’m not too attached to any of the characters or the plot, not enough to continue reading. I think the humour can be cringy at times and little things like the use of ‘latinx’ put me off.

Let me preface this by saying I am not a horse girl. When I first picked up this book i felt a little like Molly did. I wasn't really sure about the setting or the characters, but what I love about Jennifer Dugan's books is that I knew if I stuck with it I would fall in love with everything about it. And fall in love I did.
I was completely wrapped up in how Otis was doing, and how Molly could pull this off. More than that though I fell completely in love with Shani and Molly's relationship. These two beautifully flawed people found themselves and each other in the process.
I could not put this down once i really got into the story. I had to know what happened to the barn and its entire cast of misfit characters. The story was great, their relationship was messy and chaotic, but hot and perfect in it's own little misfit way. Pick this one up, you will love it.
