Such a tiny book, less that 2 hours read - but surprisingly poignant. I felt for these characters, and the stress of feeling your life derail like that. It sucks at any age.

Super quick read (I.e. 15 mins) but thoughtful all the same.

Mother daughter cancer story told through notes on fridge. A little cliched, definitely not a new story.

A good reminder to keep close to those you love.

3.5⭐️ only took me 30 mins to read this and even though I’ve read it before I still cried

The timeline was difficult to establish I wish there had been dates on each page rather than by chapter

A very quick read about a teenage girl communicating with her Mum via notes during a family crisis. A little sad and could possibly have been dealt with at times without the note format. It would have made the story a little better.

This book has been on my library list for a while since I saw it in an article about epistolary novels, and I finally picked it up to read to fulfill the DMPL 2020 Challenge's category of "book in a nontraditional format." It is the story of a single mother and her teenage daughter who communicate through notes on the refrigeration door, and the best thing I can say about it was that it was a really quick read. The mother develops a serious illness, and I cannot even fathom having discussions and sharing news about that via post-it note.

Such a cool concept for a book, but the form that sets it apart is what limits it. The notes are too shallow to reveal much about the relationship between mother and daughter, which means that an overly dramatic (cliched?) plot line needs to be established to get any emotional response from the reader. The form has such potential to ease out all the little nuances of a small beautiful daily love - like the famous William Carlos Williams’ icebox poem quoted at the start. I hope someone else gives this style another shot.
