I did enjoy this book but it felt soo fast paced for me. Even though the book was only over a month or two everything seemed to happen really quickly. I did loveee Alec though

This was kind of just a ridiculous story.

Insta love doesn’t bother me if it’s written well with characters that actually have personality. This girl gets assaulted in a parking lot after work. Her bodyguard who she has no clue about rescues her. Her big mafia guy demands she come to his apartment and she’s like okay. You’ve never met him and don’t know what he looks like but you’re like okay

Well that was a complete surprise and a total 180 from Rebecca’s usual genre but my gosh did she totally smash it.

Let me start out by saying this is not your usual mafia, by any way, shape or form. Without giving too much away, I will just say things are not as they seem.

Alec and Tessa are perfect for one another, she’s both the angel and the devil which is exactly what Alec needs.

I never expected the turn of events, I kept thinking something was going to happen. A bit like a horror movie you know it’s coming but it still surprises you when it does!!! But I loved seeing Tessa’s transformation and reading through her journey.

I loved the interaction Alec has with his brothers and just wished there was a deeper insight into his dealings and how everything that’s gone on in his life has affected him.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

2.5 Stars

Don't get me wrong, it was really addicting to read but I cannot give this books 3 stars due to the really weird and kinda "manipulative" behaviour of the male love interest. I understand why the author did it but its against my moral compass and it really annoyed me.

The numerous sex scenes were just not needed. There was literally sex scenes back to back. Honestly if that was cut down more it would've been an ok/ decent read.

Spoiler****

HE hired the hit on HER brother, but at the end tells her he took care of the guy. WHAT! You had one of YOUR men kill him but then you in turn kill him years later because its her brother. He was just doing what he was supposed to do. In that case if it was my brother, I'm more upset at the person that hired, yes i get you'd be upset at the person that actually pulled the trigger but come on! That just doesn't make sense. That honestly made me not like the book in the end.

I enjoyed this book. It’s different from Gannon’s other works (i.e. small town romance) and she does a fantastic job with it. In all honesty, I pre-ordered it, without reading the description because her work is always getting better.
This book is similar to the first in her Pine Cove series, where it’s insta-lust/love between the hero and heroine. Though this time, we get the male perspective! The dual POVs round the story out nicely. This book is nicely sexy
Tessa is a delightful character; life has thrown her some curve balls, but she keeps at it and continues her passion for dancing.
Alec is different from Gannon’s usual male leads. One) he’s in the mafia; two) kidnapping doesn’t bother him. I enjoyed his perspective because it gives insight to his actions. There are times where it seems the mark for alpha male is missed where he comes off as more of a petulant child rather than a confident adult.

All in all, it’s an entertaining, worthwhile read. I’m excited for the next book!
