Great start to what I think will be a new series. This is my first time reading this author but I will look for more in the future. There were minor issues in the story that I wished had been fleshed out. Alex was a definite jealous/possessive man. Some of that was pretty hot.

Very intense! Alec’s behaviors walk right up to the line of how much alpha male controlling crap I think is hot before it gets stupid. So that held me back bit. But I liked the story and Tessa is a fun character.
Alec and Tessa- Carfano Crime Family
Wow! This book is something else. It has dark mafia, age gap, millionaire, OTT possessive/obsessive themes. Plus more.
Alec is the second brother of the Carfano family. He runs Atlantic City and the story takes place mostly in his casino The Aces. He is a very quick to anger individual with a dark side just under the skin. He sees Tessa dancing in one of the shows in his casino and becomes obsessed with her. He tries to stay away since he knows he isn’t good for her with his lifestyle. So he becomes an admirer from afar.
Tessa is a young dancer trained in ballet who works 3 jobs to exist. She was given tickets to the show at The Aces on Friday night by someone and knew immediately that she wanted to dance there. The night she started is when she saw a gentleman in the shadows watching her. Afterward she would receive black roses and a gift with a note signed ~A.
Eventually an incident causes the two to meet. She is thrown for a loop at his demanding attitude. The push and pull begins. They have their ups and downs plus twists and turns in the story also causes problems. Overall, it was a good story with some action.
There is definitely steamy parts. A LOT OF STEAMY PARTS! I’m not a prude and don’t mind several detailed $3x scenes, but it seemed to be all the time. It got creative but repetitive and the answer for everything.
I gave the story stars ⭐️ because of the scattering of $3x scenes and because there is no epilogue. I’m a sucker for an epilogue and it seems if I want to know anything about Alec and Tessa, I should cross my fingers and read the next book.

Basic Mafia trigger warnings
Not my cup of tea... the stakes weren't high enough and the main character was a doormat

I wanted to like this book it was just what I was looking for but unfortunately DNF at 28%. I came to Goodreads to read reviews and see if it was worth continuing on but it seemed alot of people agreed with me. I am all for a steamy book but for me there needs to be a solid romantic foundation intertwined. Unfortunately this book just didn't have that it was too insta love (which admittedly isn't a automatic dislike for me but it has to be done right). Also at this point the plot really hasn't kicked off. There really just isn't anything at this point that is intriguing enough to keep reading. The writing was a big part of that for me. Unfortunately, the characters just didn't feel fully fleshed out. I didnt really know anything about the characters which leads me to not care at all if they get together or not.

Don't get me wrong, it was really addicting to read but I cannot give this books 3 stars due to the really weird and kinda "manipulative" behaviour of the male love interest. I understand why the author did it but its against my moral compass and it really annoyed me.

Tessa has always loved to dance, with her childhood filled with memories of dance rehearsals, shows etc. Something her brother pushed for her to continue after their parents were killed. Working hard to pay for everything for her until he was killed in the street one day. Now Tessa is working three jobs to keep herself a float whilst still managing to dance. Gaining a place in the Friday night show at Ace Casino in Atlantic City. With a secret admirer leaving her black roses and gifts after show.
Finding himself watching the show one Friday in his casino, Alec is drawn to Tessa. Seeing her pain and hardship beneath the dance she puts on for his patrons. Placing a security detail on her behind her back proves necessary when she is attacked in the car park leaving after a show. Meeting for the first time it is obvious that there is more than a fizzle between them.
Alone in the world Tessa is reluctant to lean on anyone else and after a childhood like Alec’s he doesn’t feel capable of love. Yet somehow they work well together, but secrets and former lovers stand in their way. Are they able to overcome these challenges?

Casino King is the first book in Rebecca Gannons new mafia series.
This story is about Alec and Tessa. Tessa lost everything. Her parents died when she was a teenager and her brother died a few years after. She‘s alone. She only has her passion of dancing keeping her happy. While at one of her jobs she meets the handsome Alec. He‘s enarmoured with her and he wants her.
Alec is the second oldest son in the Carfano family. He owns this town, he‘s dangerois and oh so handsome!
Rebecca‘s writing for this series was just as good as her other books. I loved reading her small town romances and was excited to read something new and different from her.
I enjoyed this story alot. The characters were interesting, the story was pretty fast paced but I didn‘t mind that at all.

General Series Thoughts: Available on KU. Run to go read this one! This is a five-star series from top to bottom. With four books, that’s saying something. Each one managed to live up to the one before. I can’t say which one I liked best because all four leading men and women have my heart in a chokehold. STEAMY as all get out. This series is dark, romantic, addicting, and I stayed up way too binge-reading this series. Phenomenally well done. So excited to read the fifth one, which is related but the start of a new family. This is everything a mafia romance series should be. Rebecca Gannon has a new fan.
Book Thoughts: I love Tessa and Alec separately and together. Hot dang! I was addicted from page one to the very end, and immediately dove into the second book. The chemistry was off the charts. And the tension externally and internally to the couple was extremely well done.
Steam Meter: ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 Scorching!
