Solid read. Tessa is kinda dumb imo
Thank you SO MUCH Rebecca Gannon for the ARC copy of your book.
The Godfather meets Lady Marmalade and I am OBSESSED!
This is the first book I read from this author and I’m honestly blown away.
Every page of this book was filled with intensity and intrigue.
Sexy Alpha Hero Alec and Freespirited Tessa collide in a series of events that had me biting my nails the entire time, not letting me put the book down at all.
He was darkness, she was light. He was tough and indestructible, she was the balm that softened his walls.
From the first chapter I was able to feel the anticipation and the silent chemistry they had even before they exchanged words.
I love it when a hero is so well written that you’re able to see how genuine the love and need is in his heart. Alec was crazy about Tessa and he proved it in every single page. He needed her in ways he didn’t even know at the beginning of the story. I was able to understand why he was so protective of her. The type of job he did, his responsibilities, his family name and all the world he lived in was enough reason for him to try to protect her at all costs. He was dominating but still he was able to appreciate the beauty of her freedom and strength.
Tessa was a badass. Her tragic past and lifestyle made her tough, but still she was a creative and passionate about her art. I loved how she found in Alec everything she thought she lost. Her angst and struggle was real to me and I was able ti feel all the emotions as the relationship got deeper and more intimate.
The steam of this book was off the charts. It was explosive and it evolved just as the relationship and the love between them began to grow.
This is a gangster strory, and it didn’t miss any action, suspense and secrets to be revealed. The entire package had the perfect combination to make this book equally beautiful and powerful. I felt like I was watching a movie from the golden age.
The ending had me craving for more of this family and I can’t wait for the next book on the series!

The story itself was a highly addictive, in the beginning. The books was a relatively quick read that helped me out of a reading slump but towards the end of the book I just wasn't as interested, especially after Alec basically assaults the main character to "relieve her anger" after murdering her bodyguard in front of her for getting too close to her. The only reason this book was rated 3/5 was because it got me back into reading after a bad reading slump but the book is otherwise unremarkable. Please check trigger warnings before reading!
While I like the whole possessive aspect, I didn’t like that Alec took it to the next level with killing Tessa’s bodyguard Enzo just because he became friends with her. I also don’t like that through all their fighting Alec would just basically seduce Tessa into getting back together with him every time. Like I liked the whole kind of possessiveness and Tessa being a badass towards the end but otherwise Alec was just too controlling. 2.5/5 stars
This book a by a new to me author and as I love mafia romances I thought I would give it a try. I wasn't disappointed in the slightest. It was full of sexual tension. Dark and twisted desire. Tessa was the source of alec"s will to live after the first encounter. Her beauty and dance drew him in and even after she learnt a few home truths, she couldn't give him up. Tessa was living a hollow existence. But alec brought her fire within alive. They were the epitome of burning desire and it was a joy to be along side them in this journey. I truly loved this mafia romance and can't wait to read more in this series.

I like the concept of this book. But the specific mafia family here is giving me very bad unpleasant vibes.
Also the whole him being a secret admirer is the whole selling point for the book, so when that is resolved within the first 10% of the book it kind of loses its appeal.

This story was okay not my favorite. It was written good but not my favorite. Did not make me want to pull a all nighter
