A story of friendship, intrigue, love, power, and duels. When young D'Artagnan leaves his hometown for Paris, his brashness gets him in trouble and he quickly turns powerful people into enemies. Although his desire to be a Musketeer is postponed, he becomes close friends with three Musketeers who then get brought into his eventful life. As he gets caught up in romance and political intrigue, will D'Artagnan's brashness ruin him or will he grasp his heart's desires? And will the party become "the four musketeers"?
A fun story! I enjoyed this novel by Dumas. He has a phenomenal ability for writing stories of intrigue, romance, and duels, filled with lively, realistic, and intriguing characters. Like Count of Monte Cristo, this book is long but Dumas' storytelling will leave you unable to resist turning another page. Dumas is on the way to becoming one of my favorite authors.
