I didn't enjoy this one as much as other books in this series. Uneven pacing. Heroine was frequently too stupid to live (TSTL). Main characters were bland.

I liked the romance aspect of this, but I found the overall plot pretty slow and I was just waiting for something to finally happen. I was also expecting this to have a kind of conclusion for the whole series or something and it didn't? Like it was pretty much completely separate from the others in the series, whereas the others seemed to be building towards "saving magic" almost and so this fell flat as the final book in the series.

Too lazy to write a whole review but this was just an meh-okay book. Mostly because the FMC annoyed me so much. I think this retelling is just not for me. Too bad because I was looking forward to reading (and liking) this!
