This book has become a new favorite. These women had extraordinary minds, and the book honored their intellect while also painting rich pictures of their multidimensional lives and personalities. It was also a fascinating look at how codebreaking was used differently in each theater’s battle strategy. My Great Auntie Helen was a WAVE in Washington during the war, and through this book I was able to understand better what her life was like then, also. Overall, an A+ read.

This was a really cool history of the women who worked behind the scenes to aid the US in WWII. I loved following Dot and Crow through out as well as learning about the other women they worked with and the other secret groups doing the same work in different places. It gave a good sense of how big the operation was while still keeping those personal stories in there and connecting to the women behind the cracking the codes. I don't read a lot of histories but I really enjoyed this one.

Enjoyed this, had some great really interesting information. Only minor complaint, knowing the area, is that I was thrown by the narrator's pronunciation of "Clarendon."

I thought this was a really dense, but well researched work. It was so interesting to reflect on the wartime roles women played and then compare with the results of allied victory.

Incredible read of the amazing work these women did breaking code, their sacrifices, and their lives. We would all do well to learn of these contributions, reflect on them.
