Amazing!!! Took away a quarter of a star only because I wanted to see a little more from Jeremy, but overall another fantastic read from Nora Sakavic!

Jean is a very passive character (understandably so - it was a survival mechanism in the Nest). But it does make him less interesting to read about than Neil the instigator.
Even though he's only in here for a few pages, Neil still manages to be the best part of The Sunshine Court.

The first fourth of this book is a recap of the original trilogy through Jean's POV. And it is simply too much. I came here for new content! I do love that we get to see Jean and Renee's friendship though. It was a part of the original trilogy that I felt came out of nowhere, so it's nice to finally get some insight on it.

The original trilogy is a character-focused story, and this sequel trilogy is too. We are focused on Jean healing and growing as a person. However, there's really no plot beyond that in this book.

There are hints dropped about Jeremy's life that definitely piqued my interest. I'm looking forward to learning about his secrets in future installments.

23/02/2025: I've reread the book before delving into TGR because I barely remembered the details of the first book. It's incredible how I've cried more on this second read than the first one lol

I always make the mistake of reading the book too fast the first time around and then missing out on crucial details and character's personalities. I feel like this time it hit me much harder what Jean went through, what he is still going through considering the rightful amount of ptsd he faces everyday, how special his friendship with Cat and Laila is, how important Jeremy is going to be for his sense of safety and trust in the outside world and people.

I can't wait to start book 2, I know for sure that it's going to be an emotional roller-coaster.
Also, everyone's betting that Jeremy is the one who's going to get the Trojans their first red card but my money is definitely on Cat lol if someone even tries to look at Jean the wrong way she's going to come swinging at them

****

I never knew I needed to know what happened to Jean until this book was announced. Once the announcement was out, all I could think about was him and I've been obsessed ever since.

This book was everything I needed, it laid the groundwork for what will happen in book two, how Jean will grow and how his relationship with the Trojans and with Jeremy will evolve. This book was very much necessary to make us understand what he went through and what he survived, and I can't wait to see him bloom because if there's anyone who deserves it, it's him.

Side note, i love how Neil showed up and just served cunt lmao like, I do understand Andrew on a spiritual level, my boy never stood a chance against Neil, he was doomed to fall in love with him from the very beginning
