A beautiful story of a family, spanning multiple generations, forced out of their homeland and constrained to refuge camps. I wanted to read more from Palestinian authors, and learn about their lived experience for the past 75+ years. I am so thankful for the perspective this story gave me, with the siege on Gaza going on right now.

Reading about the horrors, torture, rape, ethnic cleansing and cold blooded killings of Palestinians since 1948 is essential to understand that what is happening now, in 2024, 2025, is an ongoing genocide. 

This story weaves four generations and multiple countries together. It is a tale of perseverance, courage and fate. It is a story of the Palestinian people. 


I cried reading this book; I don’t understand how someone could not.
