Definitely the best one of the series. Love the wordplay between Mera and Shadow and how they react to each other. Wanted to punch Torin and I want my own Inky!

I liked this first book into the shifter world!
The reason i cannot give a 5 no matter how Moorish the book was for me is my pet peeve.... Things being a bit to obvious and discrepancies that make not much sense at all to build up the book... e.g Withholding crucial information that's not really a big deal and the character has no real reason to withhold it, it could make everyone's life easier but due to the build up of the book its revealed near the end for no real reason or befriending a great power that wants to give you a bond after a few quick conversations for being unafraid to talk to them???
a little juvenile for me, i prefer a bit more depth....
The characters other than the Heroine where ok... she kept flipping from me sympathizing with her to her really aggravating me with her pride, apparently getting bullied makes one unafraid of death, shes definitely not the biscuit to my tea
Also she still hasnt rejected the Mate claim.... for some unknown reason (this is what i mean).... Probably to build jealousy and angst??? WTF~!!!!
.... Still the other characters including her bestie and shadow had some interesting traits, although his friends fell into the ever predictable reused group... the brains the brawn the joker the dangerous and the quiet mysterious one....
I loved the world the Author created... on this it would be a 5 star... incredibly unique, a library at the end of the world? the different factions... and still have no clue as what to inky is??? i have my suspicions but still......
