Well and there you have it folks the end to remarkable trilogy. I just finished reading this conclusion in a matter of hours (yes, when you have no social life your reading life tends to be more productive) and I can say it is slightly more passable than the previous. Honestly I can't fault most of the story except that its pacing was too hurried at the end and the first 200 pages is just way too dry exposition, like we came for the thrilling lore of what the 'byss is Mia's destiny not her on a ship 'screwing' Ashlinn (who i still don't stan) too many unnecessarily times, only for Mia's save-the-world checklist to be condensed in like the last 50 pages it seems. I will cherish this trilogy as it being the first to bring me back to some state of reviewing and I hold each and every character dear from Mercurio to Mister Kindly and especially Eclipse (except Julius like him and Aa deserve each other).
I can only leave you with my thoughts as I process and try to find a series that excited me as much as this one but for now, never flinch, never fear and never forget and may the Daughters keep you.

I enjoyed it. Good ending to the series. In general it was slower than the first two books pace wise, however, I still liked it and have no regrets reading it.

Quando ho finito di leggere "Nevernight. Mai dimenticare" ho fatto considerazioni di questo tipo: "Bello, ma qui l'autore non ha sfruttato appieno il personaggio... Bello, ma ci sono dei buchi di trama... L'approfondimento psicologico dei personaggi secondari è superficiale... La parte romance è puro fanservice e un po' campata per aria..." tutto vero, eppure dopo settimane avevo ancora in testa Mia Corvere e il suo mondo.
Ho letto la trilogia con intervalli di mesi tra un libro e l'altro (a settembre" Mai dimenticare", a Novembre "i Grandi Giochi", a marzo in quarantena "Alba Oscura") e la storia mi è rimasta dentro, con tutti i suoi difetti di narrazione, per tutto questo tempo, come una serie televisiva spassosa che si ha voglia di riguardare. E lo ammetto, all'altima pagina dell'ultimo capitolo, dell'ultimo libro mi sono commossa, come salutando un amico che non di vedrà per un bel po' e già ti manca.
Nevernight è una trilogia tutt'altro che perfetta stilisticamente, ma l'autore l'ha scritta divertendosi e questo si percepisce. Per apprezzarla appieno bisogna aver voglia di divertirsi quanto Jay Kristoff e, come lui, non prenderla troppo sul serio. L'autore stesso sa di non essere perfetto e non ha voglia di darsi troppa importanza, nonostante tutte le note in cui interpella direttamente il lettore.
Insomma, alla fine di tutto, una storia divertente, non eccessivamente originale e con una serie di omaggi ad altri libri e film palesi. Eppure, nonostante questo, Nevernight è un amico che tiene ottima compagnia e si fa ricordare.

Okay.... here's the thing - the overall story, the side characters (save one), the dynamics between them, their growth, their relationships, their trials and tribulations- are all fantastic. But I just cannot get over End rant.
So question is what to rate this? If all that was mentioned in my spoiler tag wasn't there, I'd say 4.5 stars easily. Now? 3? 3.5? Ugh it makes me mad that I have to debate this.

Ashlinn. I do NOT LIKE HER. I found myself dreading the majority of her scenes. She was so freaking rude to Tric. SHE MURDERED HIM. How are we expected to so easily forgive that? Aye killers one killers all but not killing your friends or friends lovers. And she kept talking about how Tric killed the innocent kid to become a blade like it was some big deal and that somehow cancelled out the fact she killed him but um, SHE WAS A BLADE TOO? So she also killed an innocent kid. I don't know. I hate her and her scenes and the romance between her and Mia was just so unnecessary like it wasn't needed. Mia could have gone on to be badass and save the world with out that whole falling in love with the murderer of her previous lover thing.
