Before I got into a more spoilery review, I can say that I was so disappointed in this book. I cannot remember the last time I was ever so excited to read a book and I was ready to be emotional and have my heart torn out by this final book. But in actuality I was bored. Very little happens for most of the book (until the end which become a fast paced confusing sprint to the end). I don’t love what happened with most of the character’s arc and felt that many of the “shocks” felt almost artificial. There definitely were parts that pulled on my heart and got my emotions, because I love these characters and this world.  Every hit to them is a hit to me - I just felt like this book got stalled for action

The writing was as wonderful and lyrical as ever; I love this unique writing style and actually I'm a big fan of the footnotes.  In that aspect this book doesn't disappoint ever and the humor and writing are the only thing that kept me going. There were many laughs and I loved the sass of so many of these characters. The banter and descriptions lived up to the series. This is why the book was 3 stars for me.
_
The story felt lost. Mia is lost in her journey and quest for vengeance and I think that was really reflected in the story progression. I don’t know if that was deliberate, but it made it just drag on.
_
Somehow, almost nothing happens in almost the entire book. And then all of a sudden it’s so fast paced and mysterious and full of these overly dramatic descriptions. The ending felt so rushed that I had trouble keeping track of everything that was going on. By the time the plot came to a head, I was just so disinterested and mentally exhausted.

Spoiler
This book felt like it was a book about a love triangle, with some action and family drama thrown in. And the love triangle got old pretty quickly. I love tension and I was rooting for Mia and Ash, but almost every chapter had some argument between Ash and Tric that it became so dull. And there were so many random sex scenes (which I have no problem with), but again it just got repetitive.  And the ending just felt like absolute fan baiting, this series was dark and desperate and the happy ending just absolutely felt opposite to everything we've been through, it was actually pretty jarring.
_
I feel like Tric’s whole storyline was absolutely a missed opportunity. You bring back a beloved character from his own murder and make him this powerful, unkillable magical being. And all he does is whine about being murdered and how he loves Mia? He is one of my favorite characters and he was so blah. There is so much potential with him and the end of his story was pathetic.
_
I loved reading about Mercurio and Chronicler Aelius and when they discovered the Nevernight book I actually gasped out loud.  I've always been so interested in the Shahid's, but in past books I was more interested in Mia - not so here. I also loved how Mia became the pirate queen and Cloud was a new character who I absolutely loved.
_

I didn’t like the character Mia turned into. I loved that she was this assassin with one goal and didn’t mind killing anyone who got in her way. But once we go down the rabbit hole of her being the “chosen one” and all that, nope not that interesting anymore.  She was always so insistent that she wasn't anyone special, no power trip just a girl with a mission.  And then she's the chosen one, she needs to get all the pieces of dark together and save the world and where with my ruthless killer go?
_
The ending just baffled me.  We have this slow drawn out, very over explained book and then all of a sudden there are magical things happening with basically no explanation and I had to read the last couple chapters of action a few times to get a grasp on it. I did appreciate how hard it was for Mia to realize that she must sacrifice herself to kill her father and bring back the moon. I also loved that the end result was a typical day to night, which made people so confused.

Un final de saga mágico.

A bloody, beautiful, and satisfying conclusion to this trilogy. Jay has given so many great characters, twists, and pulse pounding action. I loved this trilogy. I didn’t like this one quite as much as Godsgrave but it was still fantastic and had a really good conclusion. I didn’t know what to expect read Jay Kristoff for the first time. Sure there are some steamy scenes but he writes great characters, cool magical stuff, and epic action scenes. He really knows how to keep the pace moving too. Definitely recommend this! Never flinch my gentle friends!

Well... it’s finally over and I don’t know what to do with myself right now
