my intro to the batman universe, and honestly, it was good for a first read.
the cursive though… absolutely killed me.
and gordon? murderr, absolute pos
still, as a starting point, I get why this one’s a classic.

Gregory peck looking ass mf....
Anyway, this was great! I could definitely see how Matt Reeves took inspo for The Batman. Great intro story to the essence of Batman/Bruce Wayne. My favourite scenes where he gets upset at that cop for shooting at that cat lmao and also when he pretends to be hungover (peak Bruce Wayne behaviour) to deter Gordon from thinking he's Batman.
Also on the topic of Gordon: the quickness of which he concluded Bruce was Batman....lmaoo love it. Also, also....Gordon, babe....why are we cheating lmaoo. Also, also, also...you and miss Barbara are gonna wish yall didn't have that child, sorry! (Look up James Gordon)

Fantastic story - Gordon and Wayne are such interesting foils of one another. This book provides a strong foundation for Batman’s rise. The artwork was great and the tension was palpable!!
(3,75) A wonderful introduction to superhero comics. My knowledge of The Dark Knight has always been stuck in the realm of cinema with only a handful of knowledge about the comic book origins. This collection of the first four issues of Batman's mid-80s reinvention is a delight to read. Its storytelling is incredibly tight though still manages to find new emotions within the familiar origin story. With the addition of some workprints and other trivia info about its creations, it becomes slightly more than the first few chapters of a much larger story, but then still, it's one hell of an artwork to page through.

To say that this is considered a Batman beginners comic there wasn’t much to the comic at all. This did not have enough depth or wide potential to be a Batman comic. I like the art style but that's pretty much it. The small cursive sadly was annoying and sometimes hard to read at the best of times. I was more focused truthly on the plotline with (lieutenant) James Gordon.
