Gorgeous cover, story was good but not great. The storytelling was weird due to a lot of repetitive telling from different perspectives. And Damien is just an abusive jerk.

If you don't mind a very slow burn RH romance, then you are in for a treat. There is incredible world building. It truly steps up the entire story and plot. The is intriguing and captivating this is a great start to the series.

I really enjoyed this first book in the Royal Shifters series! Annelise is betrothed to a brute of a man against her will because women aren’t allowed to rule her people. The one bright spot is the gift he gives her, 3 snow leopards. Now she just has to figure out how to change her fate. I really enjoyed learning about Annelise’s kingdom. This is a slow burn reverse harem romance full of secrets and lies. I can’t wait to read the next book!

Her Betrhoal

Is a very strongly written shapeshifter book. This I a fabulous resvre harmen book and is the first in the series. Annalise is called to see her father whom hasn't spoken to her in a year. What she sees is not what she remember of her father. She's told that is she doesn't marry her before her father passes she most likely be kicked out of the Palace. He's accepted an offer for her to marry she will meet this man within a week. Annalise is not valued by her father at all. This is the beginning to a wonderful story. This was surprisingly compelling. Even as I was reading it I didn't think I would enjoy it as much as I was. The plotline and characters all seem kind of basic, but it worked out in a way that was a solid read, relatively surprising, and if I get around to it I will definitely be reading the rest of the series.

Also, the shifters are SEXY.

Unusual story line but very interesting. Some intense points and potential love interests between the characters.

Annalise is a princess who has had everything handed to her on a silver platter and has been educated in a woman's role in life. She's called to her father, and he tells her that it is time for her to be married as he is dying. She's been promised to a man she's never met. When the day comes to meet her betrothed, Damien, she knows there is something not quite right about him, but she puts that out of her head after she has spoken with him. During dinner, he brings in 3 snow leopards and tells her they will be her guards/companions until the day of the wedding. Li, Ero, and Roan have been stuck in their snow leopard forms, Damien's captives, for longer than they can remember. All 3 are from different areas of the world, but the shifter gene is one of the things they have in common. They've been used by Damien for years trying to get them to bond with a woman in order to help him gain more power. As they grow closer to Annalise, they know they can't let Damien know how they feel, but how can they protect her without him finding out?

This is the first book I've read by Alice. I thought the premise of the series sounded interesting so I decided to pick up the entire series. I was not disappointed. Annalise is definitely what you picture a spoiled princess to be. She's strong, yet vulnerable. Dependent, but has an independent streak a mile long. Damien is just plain evil incarnate. Roan, Ero & Li are each unique, but I didn't find myself totally connecting with them. I wanted a bit more backstory on them, but without giving any spoilers, it does appear in future books. I also wanted to know how Annalise came to be on Damien's radar. (This may be in one of the future stories, but as I'm still reading them, I don't know if this will get answered for me or not.) Story does include violence, including sexual violence so if this is not something you enjoy or bothers you, you will not want to pick this up. Book 1 ends on a cliffhanger of course, which does leave you wanting to know what happens next.
