Ok

Interesting take on the Greek gods. Took too long to get to the final conflict. 3.5 stars rounding down. I thought the banter could've been better. I was also hoping that Hades was more of a bada$$ than he was, especially at the end. I was also disappointed with Persephone. She wasn't portrayed as a strong character.

I am a sucker for Hades/Persephone retellings in any form. So I was excited to dive into this audio. I've heard good things about the author, and so I decided why not dive in.

A fun, enjoyable SPICY bingeable read. I enjoyed it.

listened to on audiobook. wasn't the best tbh.

The start of this book INFURIATED me. How the fuck are you comfortable with giving your daughter’s hand away in marriage to a MONSTER?! He killed 3 wives! And Persephone?! Don’t get me started with that naïve girl! How you run away and then call your savior a kidnapper just because he took you to his home to clean your wounds. The scene where he cleans her wounds reminds me of when Belle cleans Beast's wounds, except Hades is grumpy as Beast but cleaning Persephone’s wounds. I do love how she gives this Hades almost the same personality as the Wicked Villains Hades but a softer nicer version of him. I feel like the setting that she made in this world, it’s smaller than the one she made for Wicked Villains but I haven’t read the other books just yet. Her world building is more intricate in this book and more forthcoming with both of the main characters’ back stories. She definitely let the trait of not being able to comfort be shared between Father and Son in both in this book and in Learn My Lesson. This book is definitely lighter on the kink world compared to her Wicked Villains.

I am not remotely the target audience for this book. I typically don't read dark romance. A lot of the kink and questionable situations that are frequently explored in the genre are just not my jam, but I was intrigued by the premise of this one and after a boatload of recs from trusted friends, I gave it a try. Wow. Just wow. This was so well done and such an interesting retelling of the Hades and Persephone myth. The characterization was masterful and the narration excellent. While exhibitionist sex is a part of the story, it isn't the focus and was tastefully handled. At its heart, this is a beauty and the beast story... grumpy soft for sunshine trope. Well done, Miss Robert. Well done.

yeah this wasn’t by any means good but 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ so
