I really like this new series by Chloe Neill. It was a bit of slow reading in the beginning, but it soon i was swept up in the story.

New Orleans is now called the Zone and it's recovering from a brutal war. When the Veil was ripped open from the other side, paranormal creatures poured out intent on taking on the human world.

Now that the Veil is closed again the people of NOLA is trying to pick up the pieces and handle the rouge magick that is left in the world.

I highly recommend this post apocalyptic book and I really look forward to reading the Sight book 2 of the series.

Ahhhhh! Chloe Neill strikes again.

Gimmie Book 2 NOW, please!

Original story, amazing strong, independent and total bad ass heroine. Absolutely loved it.

I love Neill's Chicagoland Vampires series.  I was hoping this one would be just as awesome, but it fell just short of it.

This is a completely new world, and required a lot of set up and explanation.  That is the only thing that kept this from being a 4* read.  The storytelling was a little slow.  I did love that those in New Orleans after the Veil still kept to most of the traditions that are practiced there.

I did love Claire.  She's learning some new things about herself, and even though she's completely confused about everything, she kicks ass when she needs to.  She has thinks things through most of the time.  I also really liked Liam.  He's rough around the edges, and a jerk sometimes, but overall he has a good heart.  Claire's friends are amazing.  She throws a lot of craziness at them, and they accept it pretty well, all things considered.

I think my favorite thing about this book is the new take on paranormals.  It's something I've never seen before, and I want to continue the series to see just what is going to happen next.  I mean there's so much that could go really wrong.

I love Chicagoland Vampires so I had high hopes for a dystopian series by her. I liked this first book okay enough to read more and think it's a promising start. My lower rating could be because I just finished the Chicagoland Vampires series this month, too, so I couldn't help comparing them.

I love the setting, and the world building is really cool. As much as I like the enemies to lovers that is Chicagoland Vampires, I like that the relationship in this series doesn't start off that way.

3.5 stars. Will review later.

The Veil is a whole new Urban Fantasy world filled with lots of magic and supernaturals. Claire is taking care of her family's store, and has been since they all died so many years ago when the Veil was opened. But when she saves a human and gets caught by a strange man things go from good to bad quickly. Now, Liam wants her help, and it doesn't hurt that there is a major attraction between them both. She and Liam must do all they can to figure out what is going on with the wraiths, and try to help her with her powers as well before it is all too late.

The Veil starts out as a very intriguing story. It has drama, action, and some major mystery and more. But it got a little bit more boring towards the end. It felt kind of a repeat of things. However, I love the friends that Claire has and the new ones she made. I also loved the dynamic between Liam and Claire. They were a good team, and I hope that they eventually end up together!

Started out pretty slow, but does pick up towards the end. Just in time for it to end and you now want to read the next book.

I was excited about this book because the author usually has good series. Sadly, for whatever reason, this book couldn't hold my attention. I would read about 20 pages and then find something else to do. Perhaps it is because while the premise sounds promising, everything felt like it had already been done?

I will pick up this book again and retry reading it and if I find my opinion has changed, will update.

I loved the world building, but am not so sure how I feel about Liam and Clair...
