This is the second time I'm reading this series and it's just as good as I remember! Do I think we deserved a NA or Adult book so that Roth could really shine? Yes. But I'm happy with what we've got!
Man, I love JLA books. It's like she know all my favourite tropes and adds them to all her books.

Perfect for fans who love Mortal Instruments and A Court of Thorns and Roses
“I lost myself the moment I found you.”
“People with the purest souls are capable of the greatest evils.”
Not a completely terrible start to the series...
I am invested enough to read the second book at least and see where the series goes.
Unfortunately, I had to deduct two stars due to Layla being the biggest sook ever. The amount of times her eye's welled up or she started full on crying in this book was ridiculous. Also, girl needs a back bone stat and to stop listening to everything the wardens say because its obvious they are only telling her what they think she needs and keeping a whole heap of important information on the DL.
Thank god she met Roth. He was one of the main reasons that I was able to finish this book.
Zayne on the other hand, yeah nah.

después de releerlo porque habia cosas que se me habian olvidado para ponerme con su segunda parte, decir que me ha dejado con las mismas sensaciones.
3,5 🌟 que comentaré mas detenidamente en el canal.

This reminded me a lot of a combination of The Mortal Instruments and Twilight, but I really enjoyed it.
Guys, I'm not going to lie...I was nervous about this one. Not so much because of the gargoyle part because that was awesome (I love when authors branch out from the normal supernatural creatures) but more because of the love triangle. It's always a hit or a miss in young adult books and I was afraid that it would take away from the awesome story. Well, I had nothing to fear because this book - and the two guys - completely blew me away.
First of all, I adored Layla. I felt like she was very different from JLA's past heroines and I enjoyed learning more about her and finding out about her history. She had the signature humor that all of Jennifer's protagonists have but I felt like she had a certain quality about her that made her stand out more. Her constant fear of herself was heart breaking and I hated seeing the way she constantly held herself back from doing the things she should be able to do. I had a lot of fun watching her grow throughout the novel.
Okay, so I'm just gonna say it...I'm firmly Team Roth. I fell in love with this guy from the moment we saw him in Bitter Sweet Love, the novella in this series. His wit, interesting background, adventurous nature, and deeper, caring side had me swooning in my seat! I loved all of his little quirks and how he continuously surprised me throughout the novel, until the very end. Zayne, on the other hand, threw off a major big-brother vibe to me. While I liked him as a character and admired his caring nature and loyalty toward Layla, I felt like he was just too protective and over bearing. He annoyed me a lot and I was getting frustrated with Layla for forgiving him so quickly for some of the things he did!
The plot was so great. It was constantly moving and growing and I loved all of the little details that were explored and discovered as we went forward in the novel. While there was a set goal for the most part, there were many twists that threw a loop in the plan and I really enjoyed trying to figure out what would happen next. It kept me on my toes!
White Hot Kiss is the first installment in a new series by Jennifer L. Armentrout that I'm sure will be just as successful as her previous series - maybe more! I eagerly am waiting for the second book in the series, Stone Cold Touch, to release!

3.5 ⭐️ Really enjoyed this!! Great plot. Jennifer always puts so much into the story besides the romance. Really felt for Leila. Keen to see her find herself. Enjoyed all the characters. Sensing a love triangle which is not my fav. I’m looking forward to this series.
This has easily become one of the series I love from Jennifer. It has this oomph about it that I don’t get from many books. It could be that it has Gargoyles, called Wardens - a different take than I would have expected, but great all the same.
Layla, who is under the protection of wardens, is half warden herself. But that isn’t enough in the eyes of half of them. They tolerate her and some actually like her but she feels more of a burden than anything. Except with one warden, Zayne. She has hero worshipped him since she was brought into his life and of course, she’s in love with him. However, she has a little quirk, a soul sucking one. Literally. Even if Zayne reciprocated those feelings she could never be with him for fear of feeding off of him.
In comes demon prince Roth, who likes to bring the “bad” out in her. The thing is, he’s a demon so what she deems bad, he deems good. He brings out everything in her that she is and wishes to show the world. He also shows her a different side of things than the wardens have.
Love triangles at it’s best but is there really a competition here? Team Roth all the way!!
This won’t be a good read for anyone who doesn’t like their reads to be highly focused on “does he like me? Does he not?”. If that’s your trope, read on!
