It's a neat and well told story, for the most part. Interesting characters, and a cool take on a society dealing with ghosts. That said, there's a lot of "characters bumbling into obvious mistakes" going on which gets old pretty quick. I didn't mind the fact that I guessed most of the main plot points by the time they transpired, because the execution was solid and believable. However, that made it all the more annoying when super-obvious answers to questions where essentially ignored by the cast because that would've meant the book would've been over. So, fun, but a lot of smoke and mirrors here.

Why did I wait so long to read this?! I owe so much to the people who have been begging me to read this for years because OMG I loved it! The writing, the characters, the ghosts just everything had me hooked right from the first page! I have since read the next 2 books and cannot wait to get to books 4 and 5. Honestly Stroud's writing and characters are to die for and the atmosphere is incredible throughout. I loved being inside Lucy's head and figuring out the mysteries alongside the team. The banter and bickering was immaculate and the team now definitely have a full-time place in my heart! I cannot recommend this series enough!!!!

Those were some tough kids. It took me a little bit to get into this but the last half was intense. Even though I knew exactly what was going to happen in the end, it didn’t take away from the satisfaction of justice being served.
Honestly I felt like the story was okay but it didn’t feel as impactful or interesting as it could have. Mainly I felt like none of the characters were well fleshed out
The “bad guy” was predictable from the start.
Also Lucy’s despising of george was so weird and uncalled for and made me like her less as a person.
