This is a pretty good and exciting Young Adult book. The kids in my second period English class (all reluctant readers) liked it. I'm thinking of reading the sequel.

Good book about troubled kids discovering themselves on an illegal trip down the Grand Canyon on stolen rafts. Good and quick read.

Had to read it in school, I hate reading for school, and this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had.

This book makes me want to raft down the Colorado River. What an adventure! I read it so I can recommend it to my students. We’re just starting an independent reading unit!

This book was read aloud to me for the first time by my fourth grade teacher. While this book is more of a YA/Adult easy read than a book for kids/middle grade, I fell in love with this book then and I've read it a handful of times since. It's still on my wishlist. It's a fast paced adventure story that does an excellent job at both worldbuilding and characterization. Pacing and writing are great and honestly, this is the kind of thing an aspiring writer should read. It's a balanced, quick, easy read that makes you feel like you're on an adventure with the characters. Highly recommend.

The idea was better than the execution.
Hoods in the woods take to the Grand Canyon but I never got the feeling that there was danger, I never felt any connection to anybody in the book...just poorly executed.
It wasn't good enough to spend money on this book BUT I finished because I got it out of the library and it didn't cost me anything. It gets three stars because of the concept and the descriptions about rafting down the Grand Canyon were pretty amazing.

Jessie is put out when her father forces her into a "wilderness therapy" program. He's convinced she's hanging out with the wrong crowd and is on a path to self-destruction. Jessie knows that if he would just get off her back, things would be okay. Camp is pretty lame, but things take a turn for the better when Jessie and her new friends decide to set off on their own rafting down the Colorado River. But can these kids survive the rapids without their guide?

The story, rife with adventure, explores the meaning of friendship and leadership. A group of very different kids, each with their own problems and hangups, has to work together to survive. They may or may not do so successfully. I really enjoyed this story and will look for more by Will Hobbs.

This is so incredibly cheesy. Maybe it’s the stilted translation or the terrible signs of a love triangle in the beginning, but oh boy, the cringe is unbearable.
