Though there are many minimalism experts out there not all appeal to everyone. I have read many of the most popular authors on the subject and Joshua Becker's teachings are the ones that resonate with me the most. This book, though really for those just starting, still appeals to me. Joshua's version of minimalism, a more compassionate plan of action, is the way I try to live my life.
Many complain of his use of his faith to teach but as a non religious person I didn't find the very few stories he used to be any more than allegories of the concepts he wanted to make a point of.
So if you are new to the subject I would highly recommend this book.

Nothing particularly new here other than a push to use the newfound time and money that minimalism brings to give back to the community.

A practical guide to minimalism and many variety of ways you can implement it into your life. I'll likely listen to it more than once.

Good information, but most of it has been around for a long time, so it's nothing groundbreaking at this point. Maybe I should have read it even if first came out. Still it motivated me to go through belongings and clear out stuff. Definitely agree about baby items! Most stuff is better given to people who can use it right now, not hypothetically in the future. However, some things make more economic sense to keep a few extras of.

I enjoyed the advice on a minimalist lifestyle and how to make it work for you. Much less fond of the Christian rhetoric and advice to give give give (including selling wedding rings to feed kids in Africa????) This would have been a good book without the insertion of Bible stories and all that.

DNF - too many religious undertones. I just couldn’t push through. ❌

Some fairly good stuff in here, but nothing new really, if you’re already into minimalism. Also, be prepared to get preached at about a Christian worldview, like, a LOT.

I have to preface this by saying I don't read a lot of nonfiction as they tend to bore me after a few chapters so take that for what it is.

I have also read other books on this topic of reducing clutter and minimalism. With that said I felt this book didn't bring anything new to the table.

If you haven't read anything on this topic previously , then I think this book would add some insights.

As a middle school librarian, I spend much of my time reading YA. I took a break and read this book for me.
I have been following Becker's blog for quite some time, and have been inspired to learn more about minimalism.
This is a small book and a quick read, but it has some powerful information. I'm not sure much of it would be considered NEW exactly, but it's presented in a way that made me stop and reflect in different ways. I am thankful for this book and look forward to continuing my journey towards minimalism...NOT just for myself but so I can find ways to better serve those around me.
