What a lovely book. I loved the spin of the typical sleeping beauty, princess in a tower story. The main character was very loveable and her flaws were apparent. T Kingfisher once again wrote in beautiful prose and weaved a vivid world. Would 100% recommend to anyone looking for a low fantasy, low stakes novella to get out of a reading slump!

4.1.25 - My library had the paperback, so I had to reread it. It's a very good novella but not one of my favourites.

27.10.24 - After finishing the Greenhollow duology, I needed another fairytale novella. I enjoyed listening to this on audio, and I liked the story, but I felt something was missing. I suppose nothing really took me by surprise or held my attention, so it's not a book that will stay with me.

That said, it's a well written retelling of Sleeping Beauty, and I liked the route Kingfisher took. I look forward to reading/listening to more of their work.
