This was a simple fairy tale from beginning to end, and I loved it.
It's Sleeping Beauty, but not the version we know. One of those "what if the villain and the princess were not who we think they are." And the prince helped save the girl, but not by taking over and being the stereotypical hero.
Seriously. Loved it. Now I know why people love T. Kingfisher.

This was okay. Honestly, a bit forgettable. I really liked Nettle and Bone, but this falls short of that. It’s a retelling of sleeping beauty and definitely has fairy tale vibes, but the world building was lacking in my opinion even though the romance was cute.

“This would be easier if you could turn into a toad,” said Toadling.
[Halim] raised an eyebrow at her. “I can safely say that in all my life, no one has ever said that to me before.”
I chose this novella as a palate cleanser after an unfortunate series of less than enthralling reads, and as usual T. Kingfisher never lets me down. A richly imagined retelling of an old fairytale we all know from childhood, but with significantly more fae devilry and teeth.

I personally feel like I would have liked this more if it were longer. I think it's a really interesting twist on Sleeping Beauty (I love changeling stuff and I like that Sleeping Beauty is a changeling driven mad by being in the wrong place and Toadling was so fun), I liked the writing, and I liked the plot and characters, it just felt like I got to the end and I was like well that was fine.
