A beautiful tribute to her mother and a very personal story about grief and losing a parent.  I have experienced loss, but nothing quite like losing a mother so suddenly.  I try to think of death as more mundane than scary, and this book is a great way to start thinking about death and grief in terms of what I'll call a realistic optimism.

The art was cute and expressive and detailed and I loved the fact that the more vibrant and pastel color palettes are juxtaposed with the heavy themes of death, disease, grief.

This book was really lovely and tender. A moving meditation on grief, death, and loss and all the messiness and complexity that arise with them. I will hold it with me for a long time.

Beautiful book, it made me feel so SEEN and understood. I cried a bunch, but that’s because Tyler Feder writes so insightfully that I feel like she’s writing my thoughts. It’s hard to lose your mom at a young age, you feel so alone in the experience. But this book made me feel less alone and reflect on how losing my mom has changed me, but mostly for good. I hugged this book when I finished.

the art and story telling is great, and there are pages and pages of Tyler’s favorite things about her mom, the little moments that were so cathartic and heartwarming to hear. I can’t think that way abt my mom right now but I almost could through Tyler. this is about her losing her mom to terminal illness so big TW for the whole process of that but it’s so spectacularly accurate to the little moments of losing a mom young that no one else gets and it’s so nice to hear and see that someone else experienced the same thing. Highly highly suggest.
