Book One: The Set Up
Book Two: The plot thickens
Book Three: All Hell Breaks Loose!

There was just so much action in this book, I barely had time to catch my breath. Bad people get what's coming to them. Good people die in the process. A vampire and a werewolf fight.

It was very interesting to hear about the different aspects of the vampire based on where the legend comes from. You know how some theorist say there was some sort of biblical (for lack of a better word) flood sometime in humanities way past, because so many different cultures have a story about a great flood. Well change flood to vampire, same thing.

I enjoyed that there were some loose threads because I like the idea that the Author might take me on another trip to Pine Deep. And since this book which was published in 2007, there have been some short stories and some crossover stories with some of Mr. Maberry's other series. Including at least one with your friend and mine, Joe Ledger!

The final book in the Pine Deep Trilogy where we find out who lives and who dies in the town of Pine Deep. In my opinion this was the strongest book of the three.

The blues, werewolves, vampires, zombies, romance, and police detectives. What else do you need in a book? The Pine Deep trilogy is one of my very favorite series of all time.

I think this is the only series I’ve finished in a long time and it took me over a year to do it but it was worth it! These books have absolutely everything a horror fan could want! The vampires were so scary and cool and the war of good and evil had me on the edge of my seat! I will say this one had a lot more adult themes and violence toward women than the others and the others were not short on those themes but it wasn’t ham fisted at all a and I did think it was important to the plot and character motives highly highly recommend this series

I really liked these books. After the first one I wasn't sure because it just ended and you could tell there was more. I really hope the author writes another Pine Deep story, I would love to see more of Val, Crow, and Mike. 1st read 2/11

2nd read 5/16--I think I loved it better the second time around. The one thing that bugs me is the inconsistencies that occasionally show up. For instance sometimes it's Val uncle that was killed other times it's her second cousin.

Interesting enough monster mash-up, but at three LONG books, the series felt self-indulgent and just not the masterpiece it imagines itself to be. Another in a long line of screenplays that think they're books, filled with extended set pieces describing horrific creatures committing atrocities. Yeah, I get it, it's bloody and scary. Didn't need pages and pages of death scenes involving minor characters to tell me that.

I thoroughly enjoyed this trilogy. If you like horror/supernatural books, I highly recommend picking this one up. Maberry develops his characters really well, and provides insight into famous supernatural beings that I have not found in other books. Reminds me--a little bit--of a lengthier 'Salem's Lot (one of my favorite Stephen King books) but penned in a style unique to Maberry. I do not re-read novels often, but I will definitely revisit this trilogy in the future.

SpoilerTow-truck Eddie is one of the best/creepiest characters I have come across in the horror genre. His religiosity is frightening, especially when the reader understands where his fervor derives from. Crow was a tremendous protagonist.

I thought this was going to be about werewolves, but it was mostly vampires. An okay story. Just not very exciting. The third book about the same town, but author's note in the front says it can stand alone. I think I should have started with the first book because this one takes up in the middle of some action.
