This was a great trilogy. Pine Deep is the most haunted town in America and throws an all out party every Halloween. Haunted hay rides, corn mazes, movie screenings, scream queen photo signings, parades, interviews with movie stars, producers and even some how-to’s from the best special effects artists; this town does it right.
30 years ago a crop disease devastated the town and even killed the livestock. Then a serial killers was loose and killed a lot of people in town. The town rose up, found their killer and killed him and hung him as a scarecrow for all to see. However, that evil didn’t stay dead.
Now three gangsters crash their car in Pine Deep as they were trying to escape a drug deal gone bad. The evil in the town comes to power just as October gets underway.
Great characters and a fun twisted plot full of old world monsters. The main character, Crow, has to be about the most perfect person alive but it works. He went through his trouble early in life and has moved on, but this guy can do no wrong. I liked every character, Crow, Val, Mike, Ruger, Vic, Eddie...whether evil or good, they were fun to read about

Solid four star rating for the whole series. A few typos and words in the wrong place, nothing major. I like this author.

Super fun and exciting conclusion to the Pine Deep Trilogy. Events and creatures(!) that are hinted at in the first two books come to full fruition in this pretty thrilling climax. A great ending to a very enjoyable series.

This was a great ending to the trilogy. The "final battle" lasts a LONG time, as it should. I get disappointed with books that lead up to a big final showdown, and then "George stabbed the bad guy who then died. Everyone lived happily every after". If you are going to set it up to be a big deal, let it be a big deal! Thanks Mr. Maberry for getting it!

Great series. The order of favoritism had to be 3-2-1. This series finishes so well it is unbelievable. For those who don't want a series then the last book is a great standalone.

Notes:

The series would make a great show to watch, but it's too choppy & rough to love in print. I really love the Joe Ledger series and happy to have read that one before Pine Deep. JL is better than PD on multiple fronts: plot, characters, overall development, pacing, etc.

The trilogy was light fun.

First , let me say do we have to have six pages of praise for this author before we even get to the book ? Also , most of the afterword is just advertising for his current/upcoming books . He creats these super monsters that seem unbeatable then procedes to have the "normal" characters beat them . The femal character that is introduced when shit starts to hit the fan and is discribed as increadably good looking is has a name very simular to the authors .Basically a cookie cutter like read with a very very slow burn and bare minimum of character growth of the character that live through the event . In my view just anther horror book .
