Not a romance, but an interesting look at the protagonist. Thriller for sure, couldn't predict the ending.
This was a fun, albeit twisted read. Bookworm has no likable characters, in the most interesting of ways. Eric is awful. His—and her parents—treatment of Victoria certainly push her to unhealthy extremes (and ultimately to something truly terrible). But she isn’t great either. I both felt sad for and angry at her the entire time. Perhaps it’s all a reflection of what unhappiness can awaken in us, the worst and darkest of thoughts and actions.
It’s a great read when you’re mad at your husband

I'm not sure what to do with this book. I enjoyed reading it, but also am sort of irritated by the whole thing?
Thank you Harper for Robin Yeatman's Bookworm! This was a surprising read for me, the dark humor and edginess was unexpected but generally welcome for me. I admit that the writing style wasn't always working for me but the story and Victoria were unique and engaging and I appreciated the approach taken to tell this story, even if it didn't always work for me in terms of style.
What worked overall was the development of victoria's world, her thoughts, her experiences, her humor and deft touches of suspense and an efficient plot (the pacing worked for me). I was reminded a bit of a darker Bridget Jones with the humor and internal dialogue or a dark Nina Hill in terms of the book lover theme.
This isn't going to be a win for everyone, I think the cover leads a reader to think it is a light hearted ode to bookworms but it's dark, edgier with a writing style that may not engage those readers looking for a light read.

Funny, dark and sexy, this book was the perfect read to kick off the new year. Victoria explores reinventing herself while letting her imagination run wild with possibilities. The book raises an important question, can a person read too much?
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and Victoria's wild daydreams and made up scenarios. I especially enjoyed the erotic scenes, although this could have been slowed down a bit. Her husband Eric is the typically husband you love to hate: emotionally abusive, distant and with puffy nipples. But without realizing it, Victoria picked up some of his bad habits of judging and being repulsed by certain behaviors and parts of the body. She never even noticed how she was similar to the person she despised the most.
I never expected Eric to actually die in the book so it made me wonder how much did she have to do with it; how much planning went into it or did she really just get lucky? Was she Todd all along or did she just capitalize on it? Did she get Luke involved? I love that, that was left unanswered so that I can run wild with the possibilities.

What a gem! This book is so unique and bold. It’s unlike anything I’ve read.
