Don't be fooled by the title, cover or blurb on the front - this is not a fun and light rom com. The characters are all unlikable and unhappy. I did not sympathize with Victoria - she came across as whiny and unwilling to work to change her life. Her out of body experiences were very odd and just made her harder to relate to. Thanks to NetGalley for the digital ARC.

This is not a cute chick-lit book about a bookworm who is rescued from her terrible life.

I'm not sure what it is. This is a really weird book. Victoria is in a loveless marriage, but she's also just in a loveless life. She says she's a bookworm and loves to read, but I don't know that she does. I felt like she complained about books as much as anything. I feel like the only thing she didn't complain about was cake and coffee. But anyways, she hates her husband and images dark ways for him to die because she can't leave him. She has one friend who she doesn't seem to even really like. And then she meets Him. A man in a cafe reading the same book as her...a book she hates I might add. She falls in love with this soulmate book man before she even knows his name and the rest of the book is back and forth between her hatred of her husband/life and her fantasy of Him.

In the end I did give this book two stars because even though it was weird and dark and kind of terrible, I couldn't put it down. I was invested enough to see it through. I needed to know how everything ended. And it was weird and confusing, tbh. I'm not sure I understand what happened. I think I do. But, who's to say.

3.8 stars for this very bookish, but sort of crazy story.

For most of this book I probably would have rated it a three. Interesting but nothing to tell others about, then the ending. Not what I thought would happen at all.

I had a hard time liking the main character with her death fantasies and cheating desires. Her husband wasn't that great either so it was hard to root for anyone.

It’s like 2.5. A very weird book. It has too many plot lines and not enough on any of them besides her thinking about a random man and murdering her own husband? And is she magic or?? Why is she visiting people at night when she really concentrates lol

⭐️ awful/hated/didn’t finish/wish I didn’t finish

Was 30% through this audiobook and couldn’t finish it.

None of the characters were resonating with me and the “no one understands me” storyline was annoying.

Based on the title, cover, and description, I expect to be the reader for Robin Yeatman’s debut novel, Bookworm. However, sadly, I am not. Unfortunately, I do not find it funny, and I do not find the main character at all relatable or likable. For me, books are a way to travel the world, see alternate realities, and imagine other possibilities. Unfortunately, I was not the right reader to travel that road with this book.
