Let's be real, there was no way I was going to NOT love this. However, I have to say that this was WAY darker than I had anticipated. Every page is filled with pain and anger, and overall the comic needs to come with a list of trigger warnings, so keep that in mind. Still, it is one of the most amazing and powerful things I have ever read. If you've seen the movie, let me explain in gif form...

This was a heartbreaking read OMG. When I first picked it up and read only the part James wrote about "The Girl Who Was Shelly" I was trying so hard not to bawl my eyes out. Truly a heartbreaking story of revenge I'd recommend to anyone. My favorite parts were the dreams/flashbacks to Shelly. Seeing them so happy together, living life like a normal couple, only to know what happened is devastating. They were so in love. The scene where he's talking about the smell of her hair, and the crows saying stick the knife in, deeper, twist it. God it hurts. Or when Eric's talking to 'God' or out loud and saying "How could you make something so soft and innocent and beautiful and then destroy it?" OMG this story is just the perfect encapsulation of heartbreak and revenge.

O'Barr didn't even use ink. He just put raw pain and grief right on the page. A wicked achievement.
