main character was insufferable, but I didn’t feel all that bad for his wife, who was also insufferable. She didn’t deserve a murder attempt by her husband, to be sure. So yeah he sucked more than she did. Still didn’t care all that much that she was alive and well. Trying to baby trap him to fix his childhood trauma was a wild move. the audiobook is really good though.

When an author spends more time repeating the same descriptive phrases for the environments than making their characters interesting I lose interest. Not even the dog can escape the pitfalls of being a trope.
