3.5 the first half was engaging but it lost my interest somewhat during the 2nd half. The overall story is a bit Addie LaRue and a bit Life of Pi or Midnight Library.

This book was fairly confusing, it switches time periods really frequently. It’s also not always clear how the story arc connects. You don’t get any closure at the end about how any of the magic works, it’s all sort of confusing. That being said, it was pleasant and (almost always) relaxing to read! I also liked the reflections on life and taking your life as is for what it is.
