2.5 stars because this started out interesting but it was so boring and so so long.

In theory this book is interesting and I guess the ending is cute but I literally do not care

Very interesting, both in concept and execution. Aubry, struck with some rare disease, must always be moving, traveling the world and cannot stay in one place too long nor return to a place she's been lest she bleed out. This novel meanders just as much as Aubry does; in the present she tells stories of her past which allow us to learn more about her travels. This was definitely confusing at times to keep the timeline straight, although with no real "plot" it was not all that necessary.

There were definitely portions of this book that confused me to no end, but it was a lovely journey.

After finishing it and reading some other reviews it seems people either loved or hated it - I for one really enjoyed this book. That being said I get that it isn't for everyone, especially people who need an action-driven plot. I do feel that, from their reviews, a lot of people missed the point of the novel, or perhaps that was just me coming to my own conclusions.

I really wanted to like it, but it was honestly too long and didn't have a lot of character development so it felt like it dragged on. But there was adventure in the book, so that's why I rated it higher than 2.

Enjoyed this a lot at first. The story and writing feels ephemeral in the best way. But over 390 pages it began to feel repetitive and the ending didn't tie up the narrative threads as nicely as I think was intended.

“There are things on this earth that only exist because you have beheld them. If you weren’t there, they would never have been.”

I looooooved this book

Judging by the other reviews, I guess this book really doesn't hit for everyone. But it's beautiful. I love the way it's written, I love Aubry as a character, and I love that I got to read her entire life, basically. It reminded me of the book Circe by Madeline Miller in that there really isn't a "plot," per se. It's more of an epic following the exceptional, unconventional life of Aubry Tourvel. Everything ties together so perfectly, but not in a boring way. At no point in this story did I know what was coming next. It subverted my expectations with every page.

I would recommend this, but I'll be mad at anyone who reads it and doesn't like it, so I'll just say... read it or don't. As far as I'm concerned, this just entered my top 10 of my favorite books ever.
