Hmm, this felt like two different books smashed together. Still chewing on it and not sure, though it was entertaining and I found myself wanting to know what happens next.

After we learn about Aubrey’s condition, and we start learning about her experiences…

**** Spoilers ahead ****

We are led into the surreal, magical realm of libraries with an omnipresent being sort of haunting our protagonist. I feel like I need to scroll some Reddit threads to understand the allegory here.

Ideally I'd give this book 3.5 stars, but I rounded up because the writing was beautiful. I found myself very engaged in the story up until the last bit. it started to drag, and I kept thinking "is this not over yet?" But overall it truly was a lovely story about home and what that means.

What a unique, beautiful and insightful book! I loved traveling the earth/world with Aubry. It felt as if I grew too, as Aubry grew older. The entire experience of reading this book feels very magical. I rated this book a 4 stars and not a five as I wished for more closure about Aubry's sickness.

Zero comparisons to “The Secret Life of Addie LaRue” and the person who wrote that for the Goodreads summary should be kicked in the shins. Moments of something fanciful and fun but far more dull desert walks than I cared to read. This book should have been a DNF for me. I’m so mad I went to the trouble of finishing it.
