i honestly did not expect to like this as much as i did! not that i thought the story was bad or boring, because it is such a beloved classic you cannot ignore it, but rather i thought maybe some of these other characters wouldn't make the play as entertaining as it actually was!

juliet might be my favorite shakespearean fmc, which i didn't think was possible, considering i love lady macbeth a lot. but her thoughts and her faithfulness really got me, and despite the ending, i was still rooting for her to finally be happy. romeo is the og yearner, his talks of the sun and the stars being less impressive than juliet's beauty really got me and i love these two very much

It will always be a mystery to me how this story is considered to be one of the most iconic romances in history. Seriously?! This is the story of two teenagers who, in an act of teenage rebellion, refuse to listen to their parents, believe they're in love after one short meeting and then create an overly dramatic ending. I bet you that if they could have lived peacefully for a couple of years, they would have realized that they have nothing in common, are ill-suited and would have regretted their actions. This is NOT a romance. It's teenage drama.

Juliet choosing her husband based on her own desire rather than her father's <3  The Petrarchan language in this play is so beautiful that I don't know what to do but start cartwheeling down the street.  Parting really is such sweet sorrow.
