shakespeare never ever fails. love the whole concept of this.
Classic and controversial, likely as the creator intended.
is it corny to say this is my favorite shakespeare play next to hamlet? Whatever

Definitely not the greatest love story of all time.
Definitely not the greatest love story of all time.
A classic. What more can I say? It seems a bit cliche to have this on here, but hey, whatever.
I actually genuinely really enjoyed reading Romeo and Juliet. Since this is my first time reading a play by Shakespeare, it was a little bit hard for me to get into the Shakespearean language but once I did, I loved how dramatic and interesting everything was. I don't really want to rate the story because it did take me some time to understand the language but of course I'm going to re-read the play some time in the future. There's also something to be said about some of the absolutely beautiful lines throughout, I definitely see why his writing is revered. (Also, can't wait to watch some sort of live performance now !)
maybe it’s due to the fact i read this for school, but i just found myself face palming majority of the time. i understand that this is a forbidden love and a tragedy; however, the feud between the two families was just ridiculous because tell me why YOU don’t know why you hate someone and are just hating them due to your ancestor’s past??? goodbye. the way the SOLE reason they were able to move past their “hatred” was because their kids died. it took that much to realize that this dispute was rubbish and all for sorrow.
romeo and paris were creepy (yes i am looking at this play through the modern lens SUE ME.) i thought juliet falling for romeo and changing her viewpoint on marriage AFTER ONE INTERACTION complete & utter nonsense. like hello? additionally, when paris and juliet meet, him repeatedly calling her his “wife” knowing damn well they were not married and she was being aggressive during their conversation. weirdo alert!!!
capulet in the beginning was somewhat likeable with him being okay with juliet choosing her husband, but the fact he switched up so quickly in order to earn the prince’s favor at his daughter’s expense was insane. the hell you mean that you’re gonna kick her out for not marrying paris when you literally said she could marry whomever she wanted 2 DAYS AGO?!
anyway, bless ONLY benevolio my unproblematic king
