I'm a Shakespeare fan, but this may be one of my least favorite of his. I can't help but get over the feeling that it is a satire of love. Of course I still love it, but it isn't my favorite of his works.

Esa sensación de insuficiencia que provoca un final tan trágico.
Good night, good night. Parting is such sweet sorrow,
That I shall say good night, till it be morrow.
For there was never a story of more woe,
Than this of Juliet and her Romeo.

Romeo and Juliet a rebound of red flags. This is regarded to be one of the greatest love stories of all time, although it is a classic and it gets points for that this whole book seemed a little off to me. Maybe it was the period it was written in but I don't understand how Romeo goes from moping over Rosaline for most of Act I saying he will never love again to just looking at Juliet and deciding he's fine now. It's not love at first sight or true love, it's a rebound. That and six people die in this... the play takes place over three days and six people die all of them are Romeo's fault. When Romeo and Juliet meet he essentially walks up to her calls her hot then kisses her. It takes him four seconds flat to do all that and boom they are married the next night. Is it a classic? Yes. Do I need to give it some grace and take into consideration the time period it was written in? Probably. In the end, Romeo and Juliet is a three-day love story between a 13-year-old girl and a teenage boy (whose age is never specified but is assumed to be between 16 and 20) in which six people die.
I though Romeo and Juliet was supposed to be a "love at first sight" story. Turns out it's more of an "infatuation at first sight" story.
Romeo and Juliet are obsessed with each other, and it's rather concerning. They "fell in love" within a three-second convo, and decided to get married that very same night (is this raising red flags for anyone else? Just me? Okay then.) They constantly think about each other during EVERY. WAKING. MOMENT. Didn't Romeo and Juliet have lives outside of each other before they met? *sigh* Honestly they need to get a life because, spoiler alert, obsessing over a single person during every single second of every single day is NOT A LIFE!!!
Also Romeo and Juliet are SUPER SHALLOW. All of their compliments revolve around looks. They compare eyes to stars and lips to flowers, but NEVER TALK ABOUT EACH OTHER'S PERSONALITIES???? Then again, I guess their only personality traits are being obsessed with each other, so that doesn't really leave much to talk about.
ALSO get we get a RIP for Rosaline? Even after she tells Romeo that she won't ever love anyone, including him (is this aroace rep in an Elizabethan play? Shakespeare is an ICON), Romeo continues to try and woo her. Sorry to break it to you bud, but she isn't suddenly going to become interested in you if you continue to proclaim your "love" for her (love = obsession over her beauty).
A L S O can we get an F in the chat for my dude Mercutio, who was literally dying and no one cared cuz they thought he was joking? What a way to go
In conclusion, Shakespeare did everything he was aiming to do: create a story about the worst possible romance

Read this for school. Highly inappropriate and messed up but I guess it’s a classic so it’s okay.
