This “New-to-Me” author did not disappoint. This rom-com offers a lot of emotions, with the sweetest HEA. Gina, (FMC) a 5’8” sweetheart of a woman, who had a rough childhood of being teased due to being blessed with her grandfather's Italian nose. He was known as “Big Nose Tommy” and old school mob ties meant that her not following the family trades brought on a feeling of an outsider. Helping a couple have their perfect wedding was everything she could ever want. However, at the last wedding of a nurse and a cop she got made fun of again. The cops wanted to embrace a fellow cop with the unperfect looking wedding planner. Which led to Ford (MMC) a cop and her being forced to kiss on the wedding “kiss-cam”. She was used to the humiliation, but she never saw Ford being into the kiss. Ford then gets assigned to get closer to her to get information on her brother's ties to the crime organization they helped bookie for. Problem is feelings bloom and lines get crossed and then the truth comes out. Don’t want to give more away just know it gets steamy and emotional!

Butterface is book one in the new series, The Hartigans and is a fun and sexy story!

Ford works for the Police Department and is the outcast of the family as the rest of them are firefighters. With everything to prove, Ford is a guy who plays by the books.

Gina is a successful wedding planner but yet thinks that she may never walk down the aisle herself. She has been the victim of cruelty about her looks her entire life and now Gina believes it all.

But when a Kiss Cam has Gina and Ford front and center, their chemistry sets off a chain reaction of events that just can’t be ignored. Until secrets threaten every part of their relationship.

Butterface was a fun and sexy book that was full of emotions. I love how Ford really saw Gina for who she was and how Gina, like many of us women, was full of doubt about herself. This story was full of so many wonderful moments, I truly enjoyed it!

I have a hard time when looks are the focus of a character's journey but in this case, I loved how Gina accepted who she was and made no apologies about being herself. I think she and Ford were perfect together and I love a good fake dating trope! Gina's family was hilarious and I laughed out loud multiple times reading this book. A lot of books call themselves a rom com and aren't but Butterface definitely is. I cannot wait to see what else these series brings. Also, love the titles and covers in the series.

I loved this story about accepting love once you learn to love and accept yourself.

Gina has been teased about her looks her entire life. She knows she's not a supermodel and is okay with it--kind of.
And then a wedding kiss cam pairs her up with a smoking hot cop she's pretty sure is way out of her league.

Ford is drawn to Gina. He's tasked to shadow her after a morbid discovery in her attic and her sketchy family connections.

The forced proximity escalates into kisses in the kitchen, awkward family gatherings and cannoli dates.

Romantic Comedy

This book was hilarious and sweet. Gina and Ford made a good couple and I loved some the awkward moment's they had and the chemistry between them was hot. Avery Flynn is a new author to me and I enjoyed reading this is and look forward to reading more of her work.

As a new fan of Avery Flynn, I was really excited for another chapter in the Hartigans saga (yes, I read these out of order). This one just didn't do it for me though. It seemed like there was SO much going on- fake dating, renovations, grandpa missing, mob family members, unattractive main woman, hot main guy, wedding planning...just too much that it felt overwhelming.

As always I liked the writing style and the romance is just raunchy enough without being over the top, but the actual story line didn't draw me in this time unfortunately.
