I really liked this book! It was fun and funny and I really enjoyed Ford. Gina was a little annoying with all the “not like other girls because I’m so ugly” schtick, though. That’s really my only complaint. A whole book about an “ugly” heroine who, in all likelihood, looks like a normal person isn’t my cup of tea. Ford and the dialogue made up for it, though!

Another amazing story by Avery Flynn!! This is the start of a brand new series! Gina is a wedding planner that loves her job and making couples happy. Ford is a detective for the police force and plays by the rules and won’t bend or break them. They end up at one of the weddings that is being done by Gina and it’s soon obvious that some have ideas of making her night difficult because she isn’t like other women she’s not what some would consider beautiful because of a couple flaws on the outside but Ford is drawn to her and sparks fly between them.

Gina can’t believe it and has issues trusting others but for good reasons but Ford seems different and gives her a sliver of hope that just maybe someone can and could like her but unfortunately things tend to have a way of biting you when you let yourself believe.

Overall this is a great read it flows, it’s well written and I enjoyed the story and would recommend to others.

I liked the premise of this book but did not enjoy its execution. Gina was teased when she was younger for her looks and is still teased about it as an adult. The constant negative descriptions about her looks and the way people view her in the book, aside from a handful of characters, was a downer.
Spoiler The bit about "hazard pay" made me cringe and upset. The constant need to remind readers of Gina's big nose and bugly eyes was irritating.
Gina's relationship with her brothers was a highlight but the way it plays out in the end was disappointing. Although this is the first in a series, I won't be reading any of the other novels. Perhaps I'll check out Flynn's other series of books but this one was a disappointing romance.

I listened to this on Audible. I wanted a nice quick listen after long book I had just finished, it fit the bill. I know others have mentioned how annoying the main character is and that they didn't like Ford, they felt like he was just using her. But I beg to differ. I agree, it isn't right that he used her, but he really did like her. He never felt right about using her. Other reviews complained of his use of excuses for using her, but he knew how the men in his department were. They would be cruel to her put her more pain than what they have already put her through.
Also, this is a romance book...it shouldn't be taken too seriously. The only thing is that this was not really a comedy, more of just a romance.
funny lighthearted medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: No

Trigger warnings: death of a grandparent, bullying, siblings involved in illegal activities??

Sigh. I wanted to like this one because it sounded like fun and I've heard good things about the series overall. Buuuuuuut this was just a mess. If I had to read ONE MORE TIME about how hideously ugly Gina is and how amazingly gorgeous Ford is, I was going to lose my goddamn mind.

The romance was...sweet, I guess? But this somehow felt extremely long while being very short. And I don't know that I'll bother continuing with the series. In summary: shrug.

Quick read, predictable but still entertaining because I enjoyed the continued story of the family established in her other series. I look forward to the next.

I really enjoyed this book! It was an easy, light, sexy read! I loved ford, he was exactly the kind of man I personally go for! The good guy which I know doesn’t work for some women but I love a good guy! Only think I will is it was predictable. But again I really enjoyed it. And I LOVED that ford didn’t use the words cunt or pussy because for me those are a HUGE turn off and most romance I read uses them.

This feels good. It took me awhile to get into - Gina has a big nose and grew up being teased and bullied because of it so she thinks she’s ugly and has resigned herself to being alone. Then she meets hot cop Ford who plays by the rules - he even read the rules of Monopoly instead of playing by House rules like normal people do - and seems to be into her and it seems too good to be true.
But it isn’t. And they live HEA.

I’ll keep this short and (not so) sweet.

I wanted to absolutely love this book. Heck, parts of it had me smile like an idiot. But it felt like every few minutes that smile turned into a “Jfc, are you kidding me” face. I’ll leave it at this: this book could have been great, but I absolutely hated Gina… Not because she was a bad person, but because she was annoying and I couldn’t get over the “poor me” of it all. The repeating of “I know how I look”… ugh. I couldn’t.

This book was not for me. I like the premise of a main character is isn't stereotypically beautiful, but it all felt pretty shallow. I didn't really care for the characters or storyline.
