Butterface, The book was ok, at times it was interesting. I was able to finish the book. The book need it a little more work in developing the story and also the story didn't flow smooth. The story of line was good she thinks she is not good looking and he thinks she is beautiful. She has brothers that are criminals and he is a detective. He lies to her about staying with her to protect her and she finds out he is doing it for the job. He helps the brothers escape and she finds out that he is not a jerk and she is the bad person because she didn't listen to him. They both like each other and they both have a career that they want to succeed. The book is ok i will read the next one soon.

Gina is a wedding planner whose family has mob ties. Her loving and protective older brothers are wrapped up in the family business, and when something happens at her house, a cop she's been swooning over moves in to protect her. Gina starts falling for him but battles with self-hate as she's been bullied for her look her entire life. Can she trust that these feelings are real and reciprocated?
The book centralized love for a cop, which already was a bit off-putting. But then, the entire story, even at the end when I thought "surely we must be passed this now," was focused on how 'ugly' (and therefore unloveable) Gina was. It seemed a bit ridiculous to be honest. The characters were not dynamic and the storyline was flat.

An enjoyable light romance between a wedding planner with a criminal family and beauty-related self-esteem issues and a straight-laced police detective from an overbearing family of firemen. There's not a lot to say about this other than that, except that the sort of bullying that the main character receives around her looks feels a bit over-the-top behavior in adult society. But then again, I'm neither female or American, so how would I know?
I will probably read at least another one in the series as I liked the writing and the main male character's family that I believe the series will follow.

I struggled with how negative the characters were about Gina's looks. It was too much of a focal point for me. The plot was good, I wanted to know how the story played out ,- but I struggled to get past how do much focused on her being "ugly"
DNF. I really wanted to like this - loved the set-up and initial development of story/characters... but I couldn't get over the the constant reference to her looks... I know we live in a mostly superficial society... but c'mon, let's talk about self esteem. It's a shame cos I really thought this might be an author/series that I would get into... but, in this particular instance, cheap & easy shots are not for me.
